Doris Whitfield (1930–2025)
–

Doris Whitfield was born on Christmas Day 1930 in a small terrace house in Salford. She was the eldest of five children and from the very beginning took it upon herself to look after everyone around her. She worked as a school dinner lady for over thirty years and was beloved by generations of children who passed through her canteen. Her roast potatoes were famous. Doris lived independently until the age of 93 and was still tending her allotment the week before she passed. A force of nature, a heart of gold.
