Roger was the most devoted, joyful, and gloriously scruffy Labrador who ever lived. From the moment he bounded through the front door as a ten-week-old puppy — knocking over a lamp and stealing a sock — he made it absolutely clear that he was in charge. He lived for the big things: morning walks through the woods, leaping into any body of water he could find, and the rustle of a treat bag from three rooms away. Roger greeted every single day as if it were the best one yet. He was fourteen years of unconditional love, muddy paws, and wagging tails, and the house is very quiet without him. Run free, Roger. Good boy.
