Arthur Reid (1941–2026)
–

Arthur Reid was born in Dundee in 1941 to James and Elsie Reid. After leaving school at fifteen, he began an apprenticeship as a joiner at the Caledon shipyard, a trade that would define much of his working life. In 1963, he married Sheila Morrison at St Andrew's Church, and together they built a loving family with two children, Duncan and Fiona.
In 1975, Arthur established his own joinery business, which he ran with dedication and skill for thirty years before retiring in 2005. Beyond his professional achievements, Arthur was a devoted family man and a committed member of his community. He was a passionate supporter of Dundee United and generously volunteered with the local scout group for over two decades, leaving a lasting impression on young people in his care. Arthur became a grandfather in 1998, a role he clearly cherished. He passed away peacefully at home in 2026, leaving behind a legacy of craftsmanship, family devotion, and service to others.
